You should leave a minimum of 1.5mm of grout. Usually projects design an average grout width of about 2mm for living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens…
For medium and large tiles, it should be every 30m2 of floor space. For small tiles, it is every 60m2 of floor. However, when constructing, you need to pay attention to floors that have expansion joints: do not tile whole bricks across both sides of the joint, but need to leave a gap between 2 tiles of at least 5mm above the joint.
For each 1cm of cement mortar plastering the floor, a minimum time of 7 days is required. With a thickness of 4cm or more, you should wait at least 28 days.
When it is necessary to fill joints, footings of iron columns, tower cranes, exposed interfaces, for example between columns and floors, etc. In addition, non-shrink mortar is also used when it is necessary to repair defective surfaces.
To construct large format bricks, for example 800x800mm with a height of 20m, we recommend having frame systems to support and hold the bricks… to ensure safety during construction. In addition, contact Nikko engineering for advice on using appropriate product solutions and support during construction. After 24 – 48 hours, the temporary support frame can be removed.
Nikko tile adhesive, after being mixed and still left in a bucket or barrel (away from sunlight), will last a long time, creating conditions for the specific construction process from 2 to 4 hours depending on the type of product ( (mostly 4 hours)
There are many cases where oil paste is no longer compatible with today’s tiles due to their low water absorption properties, such as popular porcelain tiles (Ceramic tiles with low water absorption properties are called Porcelain). The oil paste will easily peel off. But with appropriate tile adhesive, it will give very good adhesion. To visualize the adhesion ability by gluing 60x60cm tiles, a force equivalent to about 36 tons is needed to pull the tile apart perpendicular to the tile.
Please contact Nikko team for advice on the right and most economical solution depending on your budget. However, it is necessary to determine whether regular tile adhesive is suitable for the type of tile used, construction conditions and usage environment. For example, tile adhesives can often be used for water-absorbent ceramic tiles, but may not be suitable for tiles with little or no water absorption..
